Third FerrOs Retreat: Great to meet you all in Frankfurt!

From May 9 – 11, we met in Frankfurt/Main for our 3rd FerrOs Retreat.

We started with a brief welcome address given by our FerrOs speaker Martina followed by the first day of project presentations. PhD students and post-docs presented their newest results, many of which have been gained through collaborations within the FerrOs consortium. Each talk was followed by a lively discussion and more ideas for collaboration. The day concluded with a walk along the Main in the rain to Sebeta Restaurant where we enjoyed African Dinner.

The second day started with more project presentations and after coffee we listened to our Keynote speaker Andreas Weigert who gave us new insights into the fascinating world of macrophages. After the final project presentations, we closed the retreat with a Networking session talking about future joint experiments, standardization of sample collection and possible new collaborations.

On the third day, we offered a soft skill course on “Scientific Storytelling” to our young scientists. Ten PhD students and PostDocs took the chance and participated in the workshop led by Dimitra Lountzi from TwentyOneSkills.

We would like to thank Prof. Andrea Steinbicker and Isabelle Hornung from our „local“ FerrOs P2 project from Frankfurt for helping with the organization on-site and all scientists for their great talks, thoughtful questions and beneficial hints. We enjoyed the friendly and motivated atmosphere and are very happy that our 3rd FerrOs retreat turned out so well!
