Fourth FerrOs Retreat: Great to meet you all in Toulouse!
On April 22nd, we met in Toulouse/France for our 4th FerrOs Retreat.
Since the European Iron Club Meeting this year took place in Toulouse from April 23rd to 26th, we used the chance to interact with international experts and combined it with our fourth FerrOs retreat.
This year’s retreat was highly interesting as our PhD students, PostDocs, or PI’s presented their newest results, many of which have been gained through collaborations within the FerrOs consortium. The talks were followed by interesting discussions and resulted in more ideas for collaboration. A highlight of the fourth retreat was the Keynote lecture given by Laura Silvestri from Milano who talked about tuning the BMP-SMAD pathway in hepatocytes. Also, we were grateful to have members of our scientific advisory board on site who gave important feedback, especially in light of the upcoming interim evaluation of FerrOs. The day concluded with a typical Toulousian Dinner, which was a true pleasure. As seen by the pictures, it was a bit colder in Toulouse end of April than anticipated 😉.
We would like to thank Delphine Meynard (CRCN INSERM, Institut de Recherche en Santé Digestive Inserm, Toulouse, France) for helping with the organization on-site and to all our speakers and chairs for their great talks and contributions with insightful questions and helpful hints, and for the motivated and enjoyable atmosphere.
