FerrOs Shines at 10th Congress of the International BioIron Society in Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Our FerrOs research group made a strong appearance at the recent congress of the BioIron Society in Montreal. Researchers from every location within our group traveled to the event to present their projects, highlighting the innovative and diverse work being done across our consortium.

Peter Steele-Perkins (group of Maja Vujic-Spasic, Ulm, P1) and Tiago Oliveira (group of Sandro Altamura, Heidelberg, P6) gave oral presentations while Vanessa Passin (group of Martina Rauner, Dresden; P3) and Isabelle Hornung (group of Andrea Steinbicker, Cologne, P2) presented their results using posters.

We are especially proud of Maria Ledesma-Colunga, who joined FerrOs in the second funding period, who is a member of the BioIron Junior Board. She presented her latest research results next to serving as chair for several sessions.

We were also very happy and grateful to the BioIron Society that all of our young researchers received travel awards to support their participation. We are particularly proud of Sandro Altamura, PI of our FerrOs project 6, who was honored with the prestigious Gunshin Levy Award for young dedicated researchers in the iron field, recognizing outstanding contributions to iron research. Congratulations!!

Having representatives from each of our group’s sites at the conference not only demonstrated our commitment to cutting-edge iron research but also reinforced the collaborative spirit that defines our team.

Stay tuned for more updates on our projects and upcoming events!
